Here’s a dairy free option in a pinch!:
1) Look for the nearest, BEST quality nut butter (almond, cashew, other…) available … (Note to self: Keep your cupboard stocked for when you might need it)
2) Put a dollop in your bowl and splash some water on it – a tablespoon. Mix well with lots of love! It will turn pastey before it gets creamy.
3) Splash a tablespoon more water (until you have the amount of total milky liquid you’d like) and mix well again.
4) Add a dash of salt and a few drops stevia, vanilla, &/or coconut nectar/raw honey/maple syrup for a hint of sweetness
5) Voila! Enjoy with cereal, tea, or in anything else you’d like the “mylk” with or in!

Note: this version is awesome when in a pinch. Otherwise, there are creamier, yummier, more fresh versions when you’ve got the time to make it! (Only takes another minute.)

Pictured here I have Barabara’s brand gluten free multigrain “puffins” cereal I got at Trader Joe’s! I don’t eat much cereal in my diet on the regular, but as a treat, it’s the taste of my childhood and oh so good from time to time!

More importantly ~

Just as I was writing “organic” here, I went to verify it on the box. Guess what? I got duped! It’s non-gmo and whole grains, but NOT organic and definitely has some cane sugar. Even the most discerning food shoppers (echem, moi) can fall victim to branding schemes and moments of shopping overwhelm ~ so double check your labels and shop when NOT hungry & you have enough time to TAKE your time. But if you make a mistake – make a deal with me? Don’t beat yourself up.
Eat it or don’t.
But either way, enjoy yourself, let it go, and get something different next time 🙂
